K-Rail stands up to the Canberra Bushfires.

One of our long term customers, the Flint family at Tharwa, recently suffered during the Canberra bushfires. Here is what they had to say about "K-Rail"......

We were totally burnt out on 17-18 January 2003. The fire, which engulfed us, was started 10 days previously by three lightning strikes in Namadgi National Park, some eight kilometres away. As I am a member of a family, which has been in the area for five generations, we knew immediately that under the current weather conditions that we were in trouble. We put our own fire action plan in place about 14 January. Part our plan was to save all our sheep. My boys mustered 900 of our crossbred ewes and put them in the nearest set of our sheep yards on Friday night (17th). On Saturday the 18th, another firestorm attacked us so we relocated the sheep to the main yards at the woolshed.

Thank God we moved the mob after the first firestorm otherwise we would have lost not only the top sheep yards, but also the 900 sheep. We lost many other sheep elsewhere. I must thank my ten-year old twin boys, Mark and Simon, for their fantastic effort

The firestorm burnt all around us. The woolshed, hayshed, machinery shed and even the trees in the sheep yards caught fire but we were able to extinguish the fire before too much damage occurred.

Not only does "K-Rail" make a very safe and smooth handling set of sheep yards, but it also doesn't burn and even galvanising seemed to handle the severe heat much to my surprise.

It's a great all weather material!
