New "Kotzur" Grain Storage at Arthur River

Daken Farms, at Arthur River, recently installed a new "Kotzur" 5,000 tonne of grain storage system. The system was designed and constructed in conjunction with Burando Hill, of Katanning. Burando Hill are the local agents for "Kotzur".

The system comprises 4 x 1250 tonne silos, bucket elevator, road receival grid and belt type reclaim conveyors. The intake conveying system is designed to receive grain at the equivalent of 150 tonnes of wheat per hour. The aim is to minimise truck down time at delivery.

The silos are the "Kotzur" model GP 15-12 silos, 1250 capacity, fully sealed gas tight for fumigation. The silos incorporate radial unloaders for feeding the grain back onto a central reclaim conveyor.

Kotzur's have been manufacturing silos for over 40 years. There designs are engineered to Australian Standards and most of their grain storage models are sealed gastight as standard. The growth of on farm storage has seen a significant increase in the number of large on farm storage projects being undertaken by the company Australia wide. In particular, the last five years has seen storage systems being designed to improve harvest efficiency by allowing grain to be moved from paddock more rapidly.

Burando Hill have seen an increased demand for farm grain storage with a good harvest in many areas this year. The harvest weather conditions have emphasised the benefits of completing harvest in as short a time frame as possible. For more information; Brian Cooper or Peter Coldwell Ph 08 9821 4422
