On 11th April, 2000 Ken and Jenny Simm celebrated the 10th anniversary of Goulburn Valley Stockfeeds with the official opening of a new grain storage and handling facility.
Alan McCallum, Chairman of VicGrain opens the new GV Stockfeeds Facility
The official opening was by Mr Allan McCallum, Chairman of VicGrain. Allan praised the initiative and foresight shown by Ken and Jenny when they started their operations 10 years ago, and also their faith in the industry with their ambitious expansion. In his speech, Allan also talked about the continuing push towards efficiencies in the grains industry as it faces the pressure of competition and globalisation of the world economies.
The new facility features two "Kotzur" GP7-11.4, 740 tonne sealed gastight silos together with a new road receival hopper, "Downfields" bucket elevator and conveying to link into the existing mill feed system. Their total grain storage facility now exceeds 2400 tonnes and all grain handling from receival to outload finished product is automated.
