Mt Noorat Freighters Build New Storage Facility
Mt Noorat Freighters, of Terang, Victoria, recently completed a new grain storage complex. The new facility boasts 4 x 2000T "Kotzur" silos. These silos are fitted with pneumatic fill lines to blow the grain into the silos. Whilst this is a less common filling method, it suited the Mt Noorat Freighters operation as it allows more flexibility and means that they have less permanent infrastructure tied up between their various sites that they operate.
The silos are gas sealed for fumigation and have high capacity aeration to allow storage of both canola and higher moisture grain. This gives flexibility in an area where harvest can often be affected by rain.
Modern Engineering and Construction completed the project, which took a green-field site from open paddock to receiving grain, in just on two months.
Despite the widespread drought in most of Australia’s grain producing regions, the southern district of Victoria experienced bumper harvests, with all silos expected to be filled during the first few weeks of harvest.
